Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I've already tried that website to no avail. My serial # begins with "US" + eight digits. Nothing there even remotely resembles it. Any other suggestions.

I don't have any data on that serial number format in my Field Guide either.

Try this: http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

If you find your serial to be genuine, let me know so I can add it to my list. If that link I just posted says it isn't found, it isn't on the Fender site and not on my list either, then you may need to have that bass authenticated because it just might be a knock-off. Thanks.

Does your serial number go "US10.......?
Isn't that the 2010 US model serial numbering?
Like US10123456?
What kind of bass do you have? Pics?

Of course Zod's right. I completely missed the word "NEW" in the question. US10 is 2010, US11 will be 2011 made in USA. MN10 is 2010, MN11 will be 2011 made in Mexico. So if it is truly NEW that will tell you the model year. I don't know beyond pot codes and the neck code how to otherwise determine a more exact date and I wouldn't take a new under warranty instrument apart to check. It's new!

I just remember the whole guessing game as to what the 2010 would be numbered as. And I have seen a few newer ones in person at GC.
