Okay, so I realize I'm on a Fender forum, but own 4 American Std basses, so I think I'm okay to say that I really love the way the new Yamaha BB 2024x basses look. So I decided to add a P bass control plate on one of my 2008 American Std. P basses. I cut up an old black pickguard I had (that I had a series/parallel switch in) in order to get the look.

Does anyone on here have a control plate on their P bass? It's completely reversable as the 2 additional holes I added at the end of the cut pickguard would be covered should I ever decide to add the original pickguard. I had to widen the holes on the control plate (slightly) with my dremel tool. After the install I find it looks very similar to my Jazz basses as well....Win-Win for me!

Oh that is smart, Sanchez! Very cool indeed 8)

I've always liked the look of the Super-BBs, and the control plates on J-Basses - what you've done is genius. Marketable genius.

Just a thought - it should be a lot stronger than the full plastic pickguard - I've heard of people breaking them by snagging the cord on something. (I always feed mine through the strap, where I've put a strip of tape around to improve the grip, just in case!)

Thank You for the kudos. Yeah, I broke an acrylic/mirror pickguard right where the output jack is, but don't think I'll have that problem now! :D
