Lucky new owner of a p-bass here. ive been playing for about 10 years, but never got into fenders. always wanted a p-bass with a jazz neck. my uncle set me up with one that he bought over a year ago, but im not sure what i really have.

Judging by the serial number on the headstock, its an '05 (Z5748472). Here are some photos of it to help you experts out. I really like the black hardware, but im not sure if thats a factory option or if it was a modification by the previous owner. Im also not sure if the jazz neck was an option for a standard p-bass? Is this thing legit? I sure like how it plays and sounds, just curious if this is the real deal or not.

If it's not, does it really matter if you love your sound? It's a rockin looking piece of hardware you have there. Enjoy it. Really is a lovely thing you have.

Great looking bass! I too love that black hardwear, have not seen it before. The Roger Waters P bass is blacked out but not sure if the tuners are also?

You should take it here and ask. They'll give you the straight stuff quick. You may need to do some more/better photos.

I can tell you it's not a purely unmodified 2005 "American" series Precision.

Absolutely, it matters!

There are a surprisingly large number of scam sellers on CL & eB and they need to be nailed and nailed hard.

Not saying this is a fake, but if there's any doubt about one, it's definitely a good plan to run it by some experts...preferably before parting with your money, but at any rate when you can.

Good luck to the OP (and his generous uncle) on this, and I hope these are just cosmetic mods on the real thing.
