I'm buying an '05 Highway 1 P Bass, and was wondering if all Highway 1 basses have the graphite reinforcement rods in the neck??? Is there an easy way to tell if a neck has the graphite rods in it??? Thanks in advance,

Highway 1s produced before 2006 had the truss-rod access at the headstock; this means no graphite reinforcements. The current models use graphite reinforcement bars, so the truss rod can be adjusted from the heel. Also, they sport 70s-era logos, a grease bucket tone circuit and a LeoQuan BadAss II bridge with grooved brass saddles.

The easiest way to identify an early Highway 1 from the current series is to check carefully if the pickguard is notched for heel-mounted truss-rod adjustments. If the pickguard is notched, then this is the current Highway 1 series with the Posiflex graphite neck reinforcements and the CBS-era decals. The older series uses spaghetti-style logos on the peghead.

Your bass is a 2005 model? Then the neck doesn't feature the graphite bars.

It is my understanding that the pre-upgrade Highway 1's did not have the graphite- reinforced rods. The upgraded Highway One's, which came out in late 2005, do have them. Whether or not the 2005 bass you are interested in is a Highway 1 or a Highway One can be quickly determined by the logo, , truss rod adjustment location, skunk stripe, and bridge.

Same time post.
