I have a Line 6 Studio 110. Love it. Small, light, versatile and surprisingly loud for the size. XLR out for PA/recording feed. CD Input. Not perfect, but for 300 USD a good buy.
I wrote a review here: http://www.brotherdave.com/add_studio110review.htm

Two other larger, heavier and slightly louder choices are the Kustom KXB100 100W 1x15 and the Acoustic B1100 100 1x15 which I suspect are built in the same plant with different cosmetics. Both are 250 USD street price so cheaper than the Line 6.

From the Fender line the Fender Rumble 150 150W 1x15 is 350 USD and worth a try too even though a tad out of your price range.

Behringer BX1800. Not sure of US street prices, but they retail for around £210 in the UK. 180W, 1x15" + horn, original Bugera paper cone speaker, tube emulation, 4-band EQ. Very solid workmanlike amp, plenty of volume for blues gigs in smaller venues, which is what I use it for, and more than enough to use in church on the odd occasion it's not possible to DI via a pre-amp into the main board. I've had mine for 2 years, and never had an issue with it. Sounds excellent with a P-Bass - if you cut the treble and boost the low mids a little you have the ideal old-school sound.

BTW I'd avoid the BXL-A series with the aluminium-cone speakers, unless you the brittle, Hartke kind of sound.

I've been playing for about 25 years. I don't own any Behringer equipment, but some of their older stuff had questionable reliability due to the fact that the parts were made by several different companies with different standards. However, now, they build all of their own stuff in house. And from my understanding, quality and reliability have increased immensely. I would not shy away from their newer stuff. And, it's reasonably priced. I came very close to getting a Behringer head. I just wanted a little more power than they offered. I found my GK head for $620 new, so I had to jump on it.

Ditto, deeptubes. Add to that the kind of prejudice against the reasonably-priced you sometimes get with e.g. Squier, and people sometimes miss out on good kit they might otherwise use happily. I've had my Behringer pre-amp/DI (BDI21) for nearly 3 years, regularly gigged, and it's never let me down either - and that, compared with Tech21's offering, is really silly cheap!
