I'm looking to find some replacement pickups for what I thought was an '86 Precision. From what I've seen on the web, I don't think it is.

The pickups are white with rounded ends; there are two of them. The 1/4" jack is in the underside of the body, not the pick guard, so it doesn't look like other 86s I've seen. I can't seem to find replacement pickups anywhere.

I bought a set of DiMarzio replacements, but the hole pattern didn't line up with the original holes.

I would include a picture, but I have no idea how to do that. The serial number is E322471. I tried to date it online, but it looks like it could be dated anywhere from 83-85. I thought it would help to know the age to find the correct pickup for it.

Any thanks would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have a Fender Bullet bass. Check some posts in the
other bass guitar sections of this board and you can see some pictures of a bullet bass that should confirm the identity of your bass.
The only drop in replacements are those made for a Mustang bass or another Bullet bass.

Any regular P-bass replacement pickup will require you to modify your bass.

I always encourage Fender owners to keep your Fender bass as original as possible.

I hope this helps.

Wouldn't it say "Bullet Bass" on the head if that were true? All it says is "Precision Bass". It does look to have the cream pickups like a Bullet Bass, but the pick guard is different. The 1/4" jack is not on the pick guard like a Bullet Bass.

Is there an easy way to upload a picture to this site?

You have to post your picture to a shared site like Photobucket.
Then you can post the IMage code here to imbed your picture so that we cah seeit.

The FAQfor this site can give you better instrucrions.

I really need to see this bass.

The serial number you posted sounds like an 83 Precision Bass. Yousay that it doesn't have a jack on the pickguard.

What does it have?
How many knobs?
Any extra pickups?
Does it appear to be original or is it modified?- For this we will need a picture.

Good luck with it.
