I thought I read somewhere that Fender Custom Shop was going to offer a repro of the 1966 Precision Slab Body that was sold in the UK. I can't find the publication I read it in.

That would be a cool bass.

I have never played a '66 slab body.

I'm sure its going to be big bucks!

Yes, Custom Shop.
Special order? I don't believe so.
They list for $3779.99 at Musician's Friend, likely a typical price.

Now that's something shiny that caught my attention.

John Entwistle had a few, legend has it that his Frankenstein bass began with one of these and the Fenderbirds had at least one of the necks from these. Wonder if they're pure white or do they have the blue crackled lines?

This is not good, I was really pretty well satisfied with life in general until now.

Can you get his model with a rosewood board. I don't like new maple board I like older worn boards. Price is high maybe one will come up on ebay used in the future.

Just mow talked top Mike at Fender, this bass is a special run for Musician's Friend. There are no specs available at the moment, he said he'd make some calls and e-mail me them.

Hey Bats, this thing is so shiny it's blinding me. Since I saw it yesterday, I'm obsessing over it. Bass players are sick puppies.

On a lighter note, Live Aid "85 was on and Eric CLapton was there with Phil Collins and Duck Dunn, it was good to see Mr. Dunn, he did a fine job.

I hear ya, bro. If I had the wherewithal, this would be just one of many basses of all kinds, both cheap AND expensive I would own. They would need their very own (and very large) room.

Yeah, I can see being obcessed with this bass. Hefty price for the CS model. I can imagine $$ for an original. Anyone ever see one for sale? I think I will just be satisfied with my original white '66 even though it's not a slab body. It looks brand new with all the case candy.

O.K. it's not funny anymore! Here I am opening up about a sensitive area in my life and all you guys want to do is enforce my pain and torment me.

LMAO, only kidding. I'm still wanting that bass in the worst way, really I want an originl,l but the day I shell out that kind of cash is one I'll never see. I'm just way too practical.

Shoot, I'd be happy with an American Standard, first choice would be an American Vintage '62 Precision but as soon as I had the cash available, I'd get whatever was there.

Go ahead, keep pushing me, you just want me to buy something and have Wifey beat me to death with it.

Zod we need a picture!
