Hi all. Greetings from Norway. I have tried to check all serialnumbers pages and browsed the site for a verification on my genuine P-bass.

I am told this is an US made P-bass 89' reissue '62.

I am a little confused by its all black color - bcause I cant find any pictures of a similar bass on the google...all RI basses are multicolor in a burstmode.

If someone can give me a hint if this bass is US made and original I would be grateful.

Serial V042359

Hello from the US!! here's some info from www.guitardaterproject.org :

Guitar Info
This guitar is from the U.S. Vintage Series
made at the Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): Cannot be determined from serial number,
however you can consult this chart showing the
corelation between serial numbers and dates found on the neck
Fender MIA RI Serial Number vs. Neck Date

Fender: Corona
Corona factory was opened in 1985, Corona California, with major guitar production starting in 1987. With the addition of a custom shop in 1987 the plant currently employs about 700 workers. Apart from general and Custom Shop Fender instruments and amplifiers, it also encompasses Guild acoustic & electric guitars.

Thx a lot. Anyone with an experience with this bass?

Is it a gold build and a good year for a fender PB ?

Hello.... I had a 1987 62 Reissue (sunburst) for 10 years. No real issues except the finish developed thin hairline cracks when I moved from a humid climate (Florida) to a dry area (Utah). The body wood shrinked a bit in the dry climate.

Fender has made the '62 reissue Precision bass in black since its inception.

You bass appears to be an original 1962 Vintage Reissue bass in black nitrocellulose finish.

It looks like a great bass. Enjoy it.

I wouldn't do this myself, unless I had a desperate and genuine need to.

But if you want to absolutely pin the date of this Instrument down, then you will find it's necessary to unscrew the Neck Backplate, withdraw the neck from the pocket and check the part of the heel of the neck that is currently hidden from sight, where a precise production date, would in all probability be located.

The V stands for VINTAGE SERIES..

I.E. A vintage reissue of a 1962 Precision Bass.

Black and White are enduring colours from early in the Models life.

And yes, it was made in Corona, for the Fullerton Plant was closed by this time.

Play it and enjoy it.
