Hi Everybody! I want to touch up some scratches on the amber finish headstock of my '76 P-Bass. Is there something a fellow can pick up at the local hardware store to do this?

I'd only trust the best local luthier for that one man.

The front of your 76 p-bass headstock is finished in lacquer. The rest of the bass neck is finished in polyurethane.

I have used clear fingernail polish to touch- up some dings in various basses but you should think twice before doing this to a Fender, only because these basses are gaining in collector's appeal and value. You may want to get clear lacquer to use on the headstock face( where the Logo is).

Any touch-up that is visible will detract from the value of the bass.

Good luck with it.
