Hi all i am a newbie to this forum,I have just aquired a s/h 2002 Mex p bass finished in a lght green metallic does anyone know the proper name for this color also it has a badass11 bridge fitted is this a stock item ? the string height is really low and i would like to raise the action a tad more trouble is i am having trouble finding the correct metric/imperial allen key size,it looks like it could be 0.50mm...could be wrong on that...on other pages from forum i have learnt that the mex alder bodies can be glued to up to 8 different pieces which is probably why they dont resonate as much as the mia models.......all that glue! ! many thanks Peter

The badass II is not standard on a Mexican P, although it should be standard on pretty much every bass. The allan key is .5mm (.050 inch), the only one I have to fit mine is the one I received with the bridge, I keep it somewhere special. Should be colour 019, Sage Green Metallic. That is the only green listed for a standard P bass from Fender's 2003 Frontline Catalog. Best of luck with your setup

Be careful.

1mm = .03937" and is usually rounded to .040" for quick reference.
.5mm = .020"

More than likely you need .050" which is a more common size.

But that's not to say you don't need metric sizes as well.

I disagree, I much prefer the stock Fender bridge.

That's not necessarliy true. On average, they are at most 3-pieces, and whether or not it affects the sound negatively (or at all) is highly debatable. I had a '78 Fender P-bass that had a 3-piece body, and, as far as I could tell, that aspect of the body had NO effect on the sound.

i´ll let you know how many pieces that make up the body as i am going to strip it back
to bare wood as there are lots of dings on the body ( been a cellulose and auto painter for 20 years )
natural finish if good or black if not i did my july 64 jazz bass in 1973 in 2 pack and put it the oven
at work to cure and wondered why all the resin from wood leaked out !learnt a lesson from that...er i mght
let this one cure at ambient temprature, also the logo is peeling off dont know what to do about that
any ideas ? i know its a genuine fender ´cause i have the original quality control sign off
tab and the music shop suppliers transfer "Terrys Music" in the north of England on the rear of the peghead
...and anyway who would want to forge a MIM Fender anyway ?...Regards to all Peter (Spain)

It'll be interesting to hear how many pieces make up your bass body. One always suspects - maybe unfairly - that the solid coloured ones have more bits, and the sunburst or natural ones less!

I think in general the rule is the less pieces the better. Certainly the two basses I've owned with one-piece bodies (my CIJ '70 RI P-Bass (alder, 3-colour sunburst) and an Indie Guitar Co. IB-604 Custom (oiled swamp ash) have had the most resonant, sustaining unplugged tone, and sustain very well plugged-in too.

Good luck - let us see a pic of the bare naked body!
