I've been running down leads for months, still trying to find a replacement pickguard in an Antigua finish for my '79-'80 P bass. Looking for some fresh ideas...
I've tried Warmouth, Pickguard Heaven, Jeannie's, and a couple of local artists.

I'm going to have to put her up for sale soon and with the exception of the pickguard she's mint, but perhaps the crack in the pickguard wouldn't hurt the sale...

Advice anybody?

I know of no sources for one. Even a reproduction. They are quite rare instruments. Perhaps Ed Roman Guitars would tackle it. They do custom pickguards but nobody there seems too happy about it. Another source to try would be Jeanie Pickguards. Again, this is a really hard pickguard to reproduce. I'd figure on 200 to 300 dollars. Yeah I know, that is more than you would gain by replacing it. Most people want the instrument as original as possible anyway so, I would definitely not replace it if you intend to sell. I'd only put on a reproduction if you wanted to play it out yourself and have it look as flawless as possible. Antigua was a custom finish only available for a few years. Saw a guy playing one the other night on TV. They do look good on TV, better than in person. Another option would be to buy one with a wrecked neck, etc....and swap out the guard.

Antigua was created to hide binding flaws in the hollow body Coronado basses. In order to make the color more legitimate and downplay why that wacky two tone came to be, Fender offered it as a custom color option on many of their solid body instruments a couple of years later. Initially it was only available on Fender hollow bodies and then only for a brief time. That is one of the rarest finishes on a P-Bass.

...sigh, yes, so I've seen. This pickguard is a replacement for the original-which cracked in the exact same place within a month of the time the bass was purchased. The first pickguard was replaced years ago directly by Fender at their facility in Fullerton. Some design flaw made it susceptible to the cracking. I've seen the problem in more than one Antigua finished pickguard.
Around the same time I did see other Antigua pickguards available for about $30-40 at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. I remember at the time buying strings and seeing the pickguards mounted on a pegboard behind the counter. I could kick myself for not picking up a couple for future replacements.
Everything else is mint on the bass-original case, and all hardware included. It wound up being a little heavier than my other basses to play so usually it just set on it's stand on stage and looked pretty. Actually been stored away in it's case for years at this point...

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciated.
