Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a Fender American Standard Precision Bass. I found one on craigslist advertised as a 1999 Fender Precision Bass - USA Made. Is there anything this could possibly be besides an "American Standard"? Doing a bit of wikipedia research I've found several variations:
Standard Series
American Deluxe Series
American Vintage Series
Highway One Series
Classic Series
Deluxe Series
Road Worn Series
....So as long as it is a USA made P Bass (not a Squier) I shouldn't be worried about buying the wrong bass? The seller doesn't seem to want to call it an "American Standard" for some reason. BTW he's asking $650, these retail $1299 new, so this should be a decent deal right? He's about 2 hours away so I want to make sure this is the right instrument before I drive all the way out there.
I appreciate your help!

EDIT: here's a few pictures to help determine the exact bass in question:

Didn't Fender start the "American Series" in 99 or 2000? This series was to replace the "American Standard".

I'm not sure what the differences are other than the American Standard's usually being heavier.

*The "Standard" series are made in Mexico.

The American Series was introduced in 2000 as a redesign of
the American Standard. The S1 switch was added in 7/2003
and production of that ran to 12/2007.
The current American Standard was introduced in 1/2008.

It's simple imho. If the P-bass is string-thru-body be sure it's an American Standard (or the newer American Series). Other P basses aren't. So, ask him to send you a picture of the rear of the body.
Price asked is fair for a real American P bass (I think. Don't live in USA)
