Just got a MIM P-bass. I'm a longtime guitar player and for some weird reason, the bass just called out my name.

I checked out the Squier version, but it gave some fret buzz as did the other bargain brands of Yamaha and Ibanez.

Picked up the MIM P-bass and no fret buzz, just sweet bass sound. I figured unlike guitar, you have to have a little better attention to detail and electronics for basses. I love my Squier guitars so I was a little bummed to realize this.

I may be wrong, but I got a sweet deal on the P-bass, so I'm cool.

Now, exciting new world of bass! Wow, what a different animal!

yea. i pay a ton of attention to basses when i try them out. i hate loose, floppy strings and i hate when you get a buzz off of a certain string. i was playing this one i think it was an Ibanez, that no matter how much pressure you put or how you applied it, it buzzed. it was a real put down cuz i thought it was a really nice bass. i guess that im just attavhed to my bass and since it has nice taut strings, i dont like loose ones.

ibanezs have smaller frets than most fenders you might be used to, since they usually have 24 frets instead of the 20 on a standard fender, and this can cause some buzzing. also the action may have been very low, ive noticed this on many ibanezs i've played. or it could be that they suck and should just let the professionals at fender take care of basses

I've had Ibanez basses for a longtime, only the cheap ones have buzzing, 24 frets or 22s. It has more to do with bridge adjustment or neck adjustment than what brand. Well, price has a lot do with it too.

everything on a bass has to be perfect for me. im always messing with something or tightening a screw here or there. i absolutely cannot stand fret buzz at all. i love really low action but normally dont use it because i play pretty hard sometimes and cant stand the sound of strings buzzing. i have an american deluxe zone bass that i LOVE but dont use because it gets fret buzz when i play low on the E or when i hit an open A. i tried everything to get rid of it and even took it to my local shop and it is still there.i realy love the bass though and im thinkin of defretting it when i get some "project" time.

An MIM P is hard to beat...great solid basses, high quality. Everything a P should be and nothing it shouldn't. Plus, if you ever switch to bass full time, a nice Duncan or Fender PUP as an upgrade and you'll have an instrument that'll llikely last your entire career and let you make some of the sweetest sounds in the world.

Welcome To BassWorld

You have a nice bass. I really like my MIM. I like the stock pickups but an upgrade is pretty affordable and easy 8) 8) 8)

Let us know how it goes after a few months

This thread is over a year old, and the OP hasn't been on in over a year either.

Either way, no pics = no bass.
