Yes, I have been linked to the wire diagrams from the Fender website but I have no clue what Im looking at. I have a yellow, red, black, white, and gray (no insultation) wire. I suppose it is a soldering problem, reason I have no sound coming out of the amp. All of the diagrams I have seen make no sense. If it helps it is a mono jack. Just someone help me out, and go easy on me.

I bet your pickup is defective. One half of my Squier split pickup was dead. The capacitor seemed to have a broken internal connection.

I doubt it is a simple solder connection.

Plug in the guitar chord and look at the spring/connector that contacts the guitar cord metal end. I bet you bent the connector spring straightening it so it doesn't apply enough tension against the guitar chord end. You need to carefully bend it back to increase the tension.

They have wiring diagrams on this page.

I can't figure out your wiring either as I can't find a diagram that has yellow, red, black, white, and gray wires. What I would do is find the proper diagram for your bass and just follow one set of wires at a time.

Start with the guitar chord jack and follow the two wires to the pot.

might help you to pick up a cheap circuit tester too, you can find em for 15 bucks usually and can save you a lot of headaches in trial and error repairing. I wouldnt trade mine for a ton of boobies.

Sounds like someone did some oddball wiring at some time on this instrument. I'd rewire it starting from scratch following the correct diagram for your instrument to original specifications. The bare wire I don't know, possibly ground yes.

Also there is a Squier bass forum here. Go to the forum home page and SQUIER BASS GUITARS is near the bottom of the page. Some Squier expert might know more about this.
