I list several sources for amazing bass straps on my website on this page:
http://brotherdave.com/add_specialty.htm

Of the custom strap makers listed I have been using four inch wide Italia straps for nearly 5 years. They are the best I have ever used. The first one I ordered is still perfect. I detail why I like them so much on that page. They really are the only straps I use now and I think they are under priced compared to what Moody's wants for a similar strap that really isn't custom made.

Sometimes Italia runs BUY ONE GET ONE FREE specials. Just be patient and you can get two for one! They do this three or four times a year I think. They also sell on eBay. Search in TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS as they don't put ITALIA in their auction titles usually.

The ONLY downside to ordering an Italia strap is that since they are custom made they take a while to ship. Shouldn't take more than one to two months though. Also you need to know up front that these straps are so thick that Schaller/Fender strap locks will not work with them, so you'll need standard strap buttons on your instrument. However, since they are so thick you do not need strap locks at all. I just leave mine on most of the time. They are so soft and have no metal or plastic so they won't scratch the instrument.

I've ordered straps from Italia http://www.italiastraps.com/ a few times during their Buy One, Get One Free sales. They are made to order...but I always got mine within a week or ten days. Good luck with the strap search

My first Italia was an eBay item. Maybe they give preference to higher priced orders which is totally understandable. I think my first one was like $26. It took 21 days. I think my second order arrived a bit sooner. Third order was like yours, about 10 days. Can't beat the quality. I think they are doing a buy one get one free for father's day.
