I just picked up a used P bass that has a gold plated thumb rest on it with "Fender" embossed on the side facing out. So far I've been unable to find one like it or any information that refers to it. Will really appreciate any help with this. And yep, it'll be for sale if the price is right.

They had those on the early 80s Precision Bass Special.

Those brass or gold plated finger rests are the first thing removed from theose old Precision Specials and they are very hard to find.

Somebody will want the brass or gold plated finger rest if you don't, but I recommend hanging on to it.

Thank you very much, guys! I'm gonna take a couple of pictures and put the thumb rest on eBay unless someone here can think of a better way to sell it. The thumb rest is in perfect condition.

I'm new to the forum. Is it allowed to offer a Fender part for sale here?

I gave it to a close friend as more of a souvenir than anything else, but it's likely he might part with it. Make an offer.
