If you are talking about the american P-Bass deluxe, I own one and it is great. The active EQ gives a lot of tone options. I've owned a lot of Fender basses, in my opinion this is one the best.

I own a '05 Mexican made P-Bass special and I love it. I really like the Jazz / Precision hybrid idea. It has a maple Jazz neck (thinner than a P's), Precision body shape (lighter than a Jazz), P pickguard style, and Precision split p'ups at the neck. At the bridge position is a Jazz p'up. You can really get a wide variety of tones out of this pick up combo. All I've done to it is add a Badass bridge, Rotosound strings & a different colored pickguard (I did'nt care for the gold metal lookin' one, so went with a black moto pearloid- looks great against the Arctic White body). The craftsmanship on mine is flawless. The arrow straight satin finished neck fits tight into the pocket. The tuners are adequate. It sounds & more importantly feels great to me. The cost is 1/2 of the USA model, and the quality is nearly as nice as one. I think you'll love it ! Ido!

I have an early P Bass Special (headstock says "Made in USA") and I agree that this P/J hybrid is the best of both worlds! I prefer its passive controls over the new models' active electronics and the only mods I made to my instrument were the replacement BadAss II bridge and Gold Lace Sensors. I use the nylon wrapped flatwounds (designed for fretless basses) because I like their feel, I don't find them to sound muddy either.

Great bass! :D Go for it!
