I bought a mexican P-bass 4 months ago. As of 2 weeks ago the sound coming through the amp has decreased by approx 90%. When looking at the electronics all of the wires appear to be connected properly. The problem is definitely not the amp. Has anyone had a similar problem or know the solution?

If it was me, and not saying this is right, but I would try a different instrument cable first. Also check the jack on the bass if you haven't already, maybe it's dirty and not getting a good contact. If the cable isn't plugging in snugly, you might also need to slightly bend the prong (not sure if that is the correct term)of the jack. These have usually been all I need to do when experiencing a loss of volume. They're easy fixes and worth a try before getting into replacing electronics.

If its still under warrantee/guarantee then, after checking the cable as is suggested (wise move) it's probably worth taking it to a qualified fender dealer/tech to get it checked out.

You should check the pickups. They have very sensitive wires !!!
