Hey everybody-

I haven't seen Brother Dave around here is quite some time.

Anybody know where/why he went AWOL?

He posted Friday on the P-Bass lyte thread.

He knows a lot, and I always appreciate his posts.

Man I'm an unintelligent guitarist who never handles a bass ever, unless he wants to do a Lemmy impression.
Even I don't want to see Brother Dave gone. That blokes a walking bass encyclopedia and deserves a medal.

I got free radius templates off his site, I'll be eternally grateful.

Brother Dave and his website is the sole reason I started with the bass. He's such a great guy and is so knowledgeable and his web site has so much good stuff that it made me want to pick up the bass, and after several months, I really enjoy it.

I printed off a bunch of information from his site that really got me going on the right road.

I emailed him about Christmas time with some questions and comments and got back a real nice reply - it just motivated me more.

Come back Brother Dave!

Please?

I also got much info from his posts. I've played guitar for 30+ years, but when my daughter decided to pick up bass, I landed on this forum and his posts to help me set up her bass for use in her high school jazz band. We engaged in a few good threads, and a year later she has won a trophy and is doing great on the bass I set up using the info I found here.

Here's hoping he comes back around...

I swapped emails with Dave over the weekend. He was out of town for awhile but will be back here soon - when he gets caught up on things in the office.

Glad to hear his absence is not health related. Dave has a wealth of info.

He got in an unfortunate shouting match here over serial number dating a few months ago and took a breather. I've been waiting for him to cool down so we can get back to discussing Duck Dunn ;).

I have definitely been in and out of here a few times. I've made some posts but I have not had time to address this post until now.

I would like to hang out here more often and perhaps my schedule will allow me to return more frequently in the near future.

Just so everyone will know my health is as OK as I could hope for considering how I've treated my body. As Mickey Mantle said, "If I'd known I was going to live so long, I would have taken better care of myself."

Here is what has been going on with me.

Starting in late 09 I went into rehearsal with the orchestra for a full blown local production of the Broadway musical based on the old "FOOTLOOSE" motion picture. When I said I would do it I figured how hard could it be?

"Footloose" turned out to be a huge challenge and I learned a lot from it. I like to say that mainly I learned to stay away from playing in Broadway musicals in the future, but actually it did teach me a lot and it was fun to play with flutes and all that stuff and the drummer was amazing. But the countless rehearsals were tedious and repetitive waiting for the dialog parts to play out and sometimes having to play under the dialog was very tricky. There were 88 pages with like 28 pieces. Way more music than in the film. The show ran way over 2 hours long. There were like 40 hours of rehearsals and countless hours of home practice. It is over now. Thank goodness.

About the same time I bit off the Footloose gig I became disenchanted with an atmosphere of animosity and contradiction merely for the sake of contradiction in another thread on the Fender Forum so I decided I would devote myself to the musical show and my other projects instead of killing time here.

Additionally since late 09 I can only access the Fender website from home and not at work as they have blocked about everything worth seeing, including Fender.Com on the internet at work with a newly acquired SONICWALL system. Therefore I just can not visit the forum during slow times at work. I can get CNN.COM and WEATHER.COM at work and not much else.

If anyone knows how to hack SONICWALL I'd love to hear any tips.

Great to see you back, Dave! Those musical are indeed tedious, but I was better for the couple I did, hope you feel the same eventually :)

Hey Dave!

It sounds like you've been a busy man.

I hope you find some extra time to stop by here more often. I really enjoy your posts and learn a great deal from you. Thanks!

Death by Footloose? Sounds like a fate worse than ... death? Anyway, glad you're back Dave!
