For me: Fingerstyle, because of the tone.

I used a pick for years. Then I joined a blues band and switched to fingers. I use fingers for everything now. I am faster, have more control and the tone is better.

8 out of 10 times I'll use my fingers occasionally the sound I'll want is with a heavy pick. However we attain the sound we want is not a debate.

All of us are looking for something particular. That's why all of us show incredible enlightenment and incredible sensibility in the bass guitar that we use, the best, the Fender Precision.

Rock on.

i would choose to use my fingers because it feels kinda akward to use a pick on big strings

i say play with your GOD GIVEN FINGERS!!!! picks make the notes sound more artificial and stupid. it also, as my hawaiian friends tell me, makes you look like a girl. so i say FINGERS ALL THE WHAY!!!

i prefer to play with my fingers. picks are just to slow. if i wanted to use a pick, id play guitar instead.

I can play as fast with a pick as with fingers.

Not a speed issue for me, just tone and comfort.

9/10 i'll use my fingers though. For me it's just better.

I'm trying to learn to use a pick. My favourite bass player (Dan Andriano) uses a pick; but I've noticed that his strings are a bit thinner than those on a regular P-bass. I've invested in custom made "thin strings" (my term), which will be here tomorrow. I find it a bit hard to play with a pick, since I've been using my fingers for 5 years.

To be honest, it depends what type of style it is. I hate it when people moan about the pick as it produces a great tone for rock :)
