Fingers about 90% of the time. I like my tone that way. If a need to use a pick, I do. To me, there is nothing wrong playing either way. What works or sounds good to one, won't work for someone else. To each their own.

well, i guess my answer's more or less same as everyone else's.

i mostly use my fingers, as i prefer the tone. i used to prefer pick though. but that was until i realised i prefered the tone of finger playing.

I use my fingers because I like the sound better and it is easier to transition to slapping

It is OK freakin joey if don't have the skill to manipulate a pick. Keep trying and when you are more than a hobbyist, who knows, you may be good enough to be able to use a pick[quote="freakingjoey"]PICK BASS IS STUPID

been playing since I was 13 and I'm 46 now...fingers....tried a pick a couple of times...just can't do it. Doesn't feel natural for me. But that doesn't mean that it can't be right for you!

I tried one of my dad's violin bows too. That didn't work very well!!! LOL! Wrong type of bridge!

i think it would be better with your fingers. I'm a begginer and i don't know too much, but i prefer my fingers. Picks make another kind of sound different from your fingers, but as i said i prefer my fingers :)

I use a pick and my fingers. There's nothing wrong with using a pick. And like stated before from a couple of other people, it all depends on what style of music you play and/or what the song calls for.

For me, its all about the fingers. When i first started i played with a pick, but then switched to fingers because of the it makes it much easier to play. If you are playing with a pick (not just straight 8th notes following guitar) and trying to get creative, it is a lot harder because it is hard to pick fast(not that speed matters) and consistently because of the string spacing. I do respect quite a few players who play with a pick such as Matt Freeman of Rancid, check out his solo on Maxwel Muder. Its a cool tone that i can almost achieve by fingerpicking my pbass closer to the bridge. To sum it up, i play finger style, a pick just hasnt nudged itself into my laying right now.

Fingers. I cant play well with a pick, it slows me down. I plan to practise it more often as I would like to be able to do both.

I like both sounds, but playing with fingers feels more intense for me. I love it.

Fingers for me, though I wish I could master using a pick at times.
