I have a set of mid 1970's Fender P Bass pickups that I have in my parts draw. However, they have no wiring attached. I was wondering if there is a certain placement in the body for each of the two pickups? In other words are both the P Bass pickups basically the same and it doesn't matter which one is mounted to cover the E and A strings or the D and G Strings? If certain placement is required than how can I tell which pickup goes where? I also assume wiring won't be an issue either. Thanks!!!

Welcome.

No to your first question, yes to your second one. Obviously, certain placement is not required and here's how to wire it/them:

Sit both pickups vertically side by side next to each other where the wiring eyelets of both pickups are face up and on the right:

Calling these eyelets (or terminals if you prefer) of the first pickup half in descending order, simply 1 and 2 and the eyelets of the second pickup half in descending order, simply 3 and 4, wire it like this:

Make # 1 your positive wire to the volume pot;
Make # 3 your negative wire to the volume pot;
Link #s 2 and 4 together.

That's it.
