Hello everyone.

I don't really understand much of this, I bought this third-hand bass from a friend two years ago, he said it was a fender squier precision bass, but there's no squier written anywhere, just fender precision bass on the headstock and on the back serial number Z5020869
so what brand it is?

Posting pics may help, but judging by the serial number, that is a Fender P-Bass, made in Mexico.

Looks like a Squier to me. Judging by the machine heads.

Look at any Fender bass and then look at those pictures.

In this picture, forget about the tuners. The serial number is in the wrong location. it is not straight, and the font is screwed up in the numbers.
The serial number FWIW is a good number, but those can be copied very easily.
The inner side of the ball end of the headstock, under the D-string tuner, seems too rounded.

In this picture, Granted this shot is at a slight angle, but the lower headstock shape, as metioned previously, does not look correct.
The logo is positioned very incorrectly, it is shooting off somewhere else, not towards the G-string tuner, and it does not say "Made In USA" under it.
The string tree is in the wrong place. Fender places their string trees alot closer to the A string tuning post.
Truss rod tuning was at the heel, not the headstock.
Missing knob shows a split-shaft pot, which in 2005 should have the S-1 switching. Regardless, Fender uses a solid shaft
Pickguard has only 12 screws, unless one is missing by the pick-up between the A and D-strings, but it does look like there is/was a hole there. Also some of the screws look to be positioned incorrectly.
And it has an incorrect bridge.

This is a headstock picture of a 2005 American P-bass.

That's why.

I tend to agree that it's not a Fender at all; Squier or otherwise!

Ithink the decal on the front of the headstock is not one they put on an import bass.the tuners are textbook lower end Squier,I myself hate them
Its not the end of the world seel it,trade it inor use as a back-up,they are durable and come in handy but not my taste.
