Hello,
I am new to the fender forum. I have a 1975 Precision bass, all original. The bass will not stay in tune and has buzzing on several frets. I have taken the bass to different shops but still have problems. Is this a common defect for this year model? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

First of all, it doesn't make any sense to me that these would be problems inherent to a '75 bass. That said, you also state some things that need clarification:

1. "Will not stay in tune." Do you mean that the tuning keys or strings are slipping, or do you mean that the intonation across the fingerboard is very inconsistent?

2. "Buzzing on several frets." Please tell us about the profile of the neck. When wearing the bass, sight over the E side horn and sight the fingerboard along the edge of the horn. Does the neck curve up toward the face of the body of the bass, or does it curve backward, thereby pulling the strings closer to the fingerboard?

Glad to help more - just give us some ammo to work with.
