Does anybody have any good techniques for relic-"ing" new chrome P bass chrome covers. I suspect there are some chemical treatments to dull the chrome finish (weak acids) but I want to avoid using chemicals and would settle for some light scratches and perhaps dulling the chrome shine in selected spots using maybe some steel wool or very fine grit paper.

Any tips/techniques etc. for doing this would be appreciated.

Even weak acid (muratic) will destroy enough of the plating to eventually cause rust.Find some very fine grit Scotchbrite pads.(Local woodworking store)and try the inside of the pieces your working with and see if that gets you where you want to go. Hope this helps................. 8) Mike
