I'm curious what the differences are between American Standard P-basses and American Series P-basses (which I believe were produced between 2000 and 2007/08)?

I'm looking into buying a used P-bass and the owner says its an American Standard and I just want to doublecheck.

Pics would also help.

Many thanks.

There are where many American made basses (Standard, Deluxe, etc...). The American Series P-basses as a specific model I am not familiar with. It might be a misquote by the seller.

Pics would be helpful.

A serial # can help.

Wasn't it the American Series had the S1 switching?

The American Series did have the S1 switch toward the end of their span.
Around 2008, Fender dropped the American Series line and started the
American Standard line.

The American Standard dropped the S1 switch and changed to light weight
tuners. The American Standards feel lighter to me (but I'm not sure of the
exact weight). They are very similar basses.

The American Series ran from 7/2003 to 12/2007.
The American Standard was introduced in 1/2008.
