I have an Eden 410xlt 700W 8ohm paired with a GK115T- (200watts?) 8 ohm cabinet. I am running a GK 1001-rbII 700W 4ohm head. (90's Mex p bass too.)

Since pairing the 2 cabs (daisy chained off the eden) I have blown a driver in the eden, repaired it, then tore the surround in the GK.

What are the chances that a corroded/corrupted pot in my fender p bass or another guitar/ electrical issue could be the problem?? there seems to be a surging issue when I hit lows on my E string (sliding up from open). The 1001-rbII head has been super reliable on other cabs but from time to time a nasty grumbling occurs which is a big worry and costing me $$$

Does anyone have suggestions?

Welcome.

Nil to your first question. As to your second one, I'm guessing there is an ohms mismatch with your amps somewhere.

What settings are you using on the amp?

You have a 700watt head going into a 200 watt cab and a 700 watt cabinet.
The effective wattage may be greater than the speakers can handle.

You have to be careful as to how much bass and total volume you are trying to get out of this system. You can easily blow speakers and a bad pot on your bass will have nothing to do with it.

I would start by turning down the volume. Run all of your tone controls flat.
Flat means that all tone sectors are set to 50%.

Turn down the master voluime and boost the gain control.

Tell your guitar player(s) to turn down too.

Wear earplugs! That rig will damage your hearing over time.

Amps are not rated for impedance, speakers are. If you are running two 8 ohm cabinets in parallel, you are dealing with 4 ohms impedance, so your GK 1001RB-II is pushing 700W, more or less equally split between your two cabinets (~350W each). Too much for the 1x15, but it should be OK for your Eden 4x10.

As stated, I wouldn't think that a pot could contribute to your problem. GK's are an odd bird; I know - I've had a 700RB-II for the past 4 years. I would recommend pairing your 1001 RB-II up with a GK cabinet that will alow you to take advantage of the bi-amp system. They sound killer. RIght now, I use my 700RB-II with a GK Neo 212-II with the speakon cable and I could blow the walls out of my house with it.

Also as mentioned, without protection, you will destroy your hearing with what your pushing right now.

Your amp is rated for 4 ohm, and you should be OK running (2) 8 ohm speakers in parallel (total 4 ohm) unless you are putting too much volume to one or both of the speaker cabs (like the others said).

You would not want to run (2) 4 ohm speakers in parallel, that would put a 2 ohm load on your amp which could cause it to overheat.

Disregard the warning if you only plan to use (1) or (2) 8 ohm speakers. Do heed the advice about putting too much power through a speaker cab that is not rated to take it.
