Hi, I recently bought what I thought was an American made Fender Precision bass on Ebay.I really thought I got a great bass at a great price. The other day I was looking for some new volume and tone knobs for it when one seller said his knobs were to small for American solid knob shafts but would fit Mexican split knob shafts.Well my new bass is supposed to be American but it has split knob shafts, so one thing led to another and now I don't know what I have. The neck has a skunk stripe,a rosewood fretboard and a Fender Precision Bass- Made In USA logo with a serial # GN6136050.I could not find this in product dating guide. The body and contols look to be a standard Precision Bass 0136000 which appears to be Mexican. So thats all I know except for the fact that it looks like I got srewed. If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated.Thanks.

I am by no means an expert on the minutiae of imported Fenders. However, to the best of my recollection, a serial number starting with 'GN' is of Korean origin. Unfortunately, I do believe your other concerns are valid as well.

If you can post any pictures of your bass, I can help you identify what you have.

I am sorry if you were taken on a bad Ebay deal.
If the seller is reputable they should refund your money if the bass you bought was mis-represented.

All American made Precision basses have solid shaft pots , AFAIK.

SORRY, I'd ask for a refund. That is not a USA serial. Might be a Squier with a Fender logo. File a fraud report with eBay if they will not refund your money. That is the only way to stop these crooks from swindling others.
