Tired of the everyday sunburst?...Wish you could play a pbass with some aesthetic excitement and adventure?....I offer you: NEW FINISHES!!!
Here's your chance to escape from the confines of the 40 year old traditional Fender pbass paintjobs.

Put all your ideas for new and interesting types of finishes for pbasses here and let's hope Fender considers them! Why did they stop at blue flower and pink paisley??? I am tired of the same old colors year after year. I love Fender and I love pbasses, but please give us something beyond flat colors, Fender. You guys are the most innovative bass makers in the world! Please give us dazzling finishes with texture and depth to them. Make your finishes as awesome as your basses.

I'll start:
Though I can't think of anything at this moment, I can definitely think of what should not be done: any kind of cartoon stuff or paint marbelized, spun paint splatter jobs or racing stripes.
I want something atmospheric and with more than one dimension. The blue flower was a great step in that direction. Keep it up Fender.

Hey John,

I would like to see Huge Metal Flake like on Bass Boats. My P-Bass stands out like Tammy Faye Bakers eyelashes! lol It has a bright yellow body and a checkered black and white pick guard, Maple neck and big chrome Badass Bass Bridge II.

I like to take the bass out front sometimes, and it is good to be noticed. you can see pictures on my myspace page. www.myspace.com/lennyround

I want to put some pictures up on this site I just haven't figured out how yet. Anyways I still want to see Huge Metal Flake... lol I'm laughing but I'm not kidding. Peace Bro
Lenny

Copper Shmear finish on a solid jelutong body (I know that Fender doesn't use malaysian mystery wood and wacky paint jobs on its guitars) or an American Flag Graphic finish on select alder like this:

This bass should have a 22-fret neck mounted on a standard P-Bass body. Vineyard Guitars makes standard P and J basses with 22 frets and abalone dots!

How's about offering Butterscotch Blonde on the Am. Standard P? Also, am I the only one that thinks the 'burst on the Am. Std. looks a bit weird? I have an '07 Am. Std. Jazz and put a white pearloid(toilet seat) guard on it to balance out the look.
Also, I have a 2000 MIM 'burst which has a hint of burnt orange instead of cherry. I've heard these referred to as "pumpkinburst", do any of you know what I'm talking about and think it'd be a good choice for the Am. Std.?

Something other than the classy colours, like black, white, sunburst, etc...

Yellow with a black pickguard.
Turquoise white pickguard

More funky choices

Fender offred the Butterscotch finish on the American and American Deluxe Series a couple of years ago. The Butterscotch Deluxes are now gone.

I never heard about a Sunset Orange MIM. This finish was common on the Hotrodded and S1-equipped Americans. Maybe you meant Sienna Sunburst, perhaps?

Sienna Sunburst is actually offered on American Standard Stratocasters and Telecasters, as well on some FSR (Factory Special Run) American Deluxe series models. CBS offered the Sienna finish on bass guitars in the late 1970s-early 1980s. I totally agree, Fender should offer the Sienna Burst finish on its bass guitars as well.

Rickenbacker had a color they called Autumnglo, which had rich brown iced tea edges fading to an Amber center. During certain years is was very shiny and then there were a few years were it was more of a matte finish. I tended to like the shiny version. Check out the Gbase link to see this fretless 1977 4001 in the color. I think that it would look great on Fenders. There are several different images from different angles to check out.

I'd like to see them re-issue that vintage brown again.

Offer headstocks painted same color as body on P and J basses. Like the 1980 Precision Special.

Walnut and Mocha finishes look cool. Especially with a 3-layer black/white/black pickguard and a maple fretboard.

Fender has reissued a rosewood Telecaster in 2007.

I saw the late John English build a rosewood Strat.
