I made a quick video of me playing white room.

It's not that good, but figured I would let you guys see it. Like I said in other posts, I just got the bass and am just learning to play it.

This video is just my bass. I posted another one of me playing to the song, but it's not ready yet.

My wife set up the camera, so sorry if you have to look at my crotch the whole time lol. Also that's her making all the noise in the background.

Here's the video with the music. I mess up a little more in this video.

You're doing fine, just keep plugging away at it!

Seeing that your just starting out on bass, may I offer you one suggestion: As White Room is a slower song bass line wise, do yourself a HUGE favor NOW and learn to play with your fingers (and thumb) instead of a pick.

yeah I'm trying to get a good finger method down. Just wasn't ready to try it out on video just yet.

I'm been practicing using my fingers on Everclear's Everything to Everyone. It's a good song to practice alternating fingers. Most of the song is 3 notes per bar, so right now I'm just trying to get down 2 fingers, so alternation index, middle, index.

Trying to find a comfortable position to anchor my hand. I tried resting my thumb on the pickup, but seems kind of far back, so trying to find a good spot between the pickup and the neck.

I have to agree with the rest, you're doing great, keep at it. Use your fingers, nothing wrong with a pick but, it's always better to be ready for anything.
