I just did my neck last night and it drank the fender fretboard conditioner right up. Doing a second round tonight.
Thanks for all he amazing info Brother Dave. I bookmarked your page and read around some. Fascinating info! I just ordered the Carol Kaye book. Can't wait to go through it. Do they sell all her books in a set?

The books are sold individually to address your specific interests or areas where you want to achieve a benefit. For example, if you already read music there is no need for the sight reading course for example. If you are a rock and roller chances are you'll never need the "Jazz Improv" course. I can recommend her DVD's also. I just enjoy watching her play. In the books and videos you pretty much get the same messages she delivered in electric bass class at the Henry Mancini School of Music at UCLA and still delivers in private instruction. The books are short and sweet as there is no fluff, just the stuff you really need to know and she stays on topic. The one thing that never took with me is playing with a pick. While she harps on playing with a pick, and Lord knows I've tried to do it, I still have a long way to go to be a good pick player. I play way better with just my right index finger. I frankly gave up on picks about two years ago but just recently have started trying one last time to "get it."

Brother Dave,
I am not much of a picker either, and only use it to invoke certain sounds you can only get from a pick when I need them.
I mainly use my index and middle fingers- alternating. Just natural for me.
I think everyone has their own natural technique that is special to them. Like everyone has their own way of walking or talking. I don't think it is good to force oneself to do something that is uncomfortable or just not "me", so to speak.

Regarding Carol's books: I am interested in all styles, so I am sure I will get alot. They sound so interesting and I am anxious to dive in and start learning!
I am glad to hear they are concise. Sounds like it will be a great time learning.

P.S.- all those hits she lists on her sight...she actually played on them? The versions we hear on the radio? Good Vibrations? Bernadette?
