Crafted in Japan S03XXXX

According to the Product Dating link here that means 1994-95?
I bought the bass new from a dealer last summer. That can't be right, right?

Thanks

Hey CAFeathers, thanks for the link thats pretty cool. My particular bass must fall outside of the parameters here though, imagine that! Hahaha.

The "Crafted in Japan" is printed on the neck heel near the body (not on the headstock as your web link indicates). This is a bass that came in the factory box in new condition. I can't imagine it being 12 years old. I absolutely love Fender basses, the playability, TONE and traditional styling works for everything I do with them. The lack of clear information (at all levels) regarding what I would think to be simple stuff has me a bit confused however.

CIJ didn't start until around 99 or 00, so it isn't that old. Then again, mine looked brand new when I got it last year, and it's a 96...

Correction, CIJ started around 1997, and I'd guess yours is '05 to '06. The list here shows your number as being 'off the end', so I'd guess it was pretty recent.
