I love my Highway One. The most beautiful bass I have seen. I will keep this bass forever.
IMO different lighting gives different shades of Honey Blonde. I love the look of it in a low-lighting situation.(not shown)

It does look nice. I just don't see even a hint of yellow in the finish as shown on Fender's product page.

The Fender image of the Honey Blonde Highway One P-Bass is IMO a poor representation of the actual color.
Did you look at the Jazz or any guitars in Honey Blonde?
Not trying to come off as a jerk, but did you base your decision to buy that bass on that image of it?

The first 5 are images from the Fender website for Honey Blonde Highway Ones. The rest are, well, actual photos. IMO you new bass falls right in with the photos there perfect.
Congrats and enjoy it!

Hello, I am from mexico, and i am new here, I bought a second hand blonde highway one pbass and replace the white pickguard for a new tortoise (it looks like this one), i think it has the groove!!

By the way i own a MIJ 84-87 pbass (SN E+6 digits), and I put out the original paint in order to see the wood, it doesnt look like alder, do you have any idea of what kind of wood they used in those basses.

Thanx for you support and keep walkin' bass!

This color issue is just one of the reasons why you should buy basses from a local dealer. The online dealers may beat the price by a few dollars...and maybe you can beat the state sales tax. But I like to know exactly the instrument I am getting.

Yeah I've bought basses online, but when buying online you really can't complain about the shade of the finish now can you? If you don't like it send it back.

I guess my point is that Fender should update their site to reflect the actual color (unless there's some mistake).

As for my bass I can always return it, but it's too late. I'm already digging it! :D

And it's all about the tone anyway.

The local dealers (GC SamAsh) leave me cold. If they do have what I'm looking for and if I can get someone to help me out, they don't want to deal.

Online they took off 20%, no sales tax and free shipping. And of course it's easy enough to return it if it's not exactly what I want. My new P has grown on my already. Sounds great!

I guess my main point was that Fender's product doesn't really match what they show on their website. And I found that a bit odd.

I actually don't consider Guitar Center or Sam Ash to be local dealers. They are outlets of a nationwide chain much like your local Wal-Mart. Their staff is about as interested in helping you as the staff at Wal-Mart.

If you click DEALER LOCATOR at the top of this page you can find the kind of shops I'm talking about.

The 'dealer locator' comes up with Sam Ash and Best Buy near me. I've been to smaller shops before, but they usually don't have much of a selection. So I'd be in the same 'ordering online' situation.

Don't worry about the color. The bass will get more yellow as it ages.

Don't waste your time or theirs returning the bass. If its a good one just play it.
In 5 to 10 years you will be amazed at the difference in the color if you remove the pickguard and see the contrast.

Oh, I'm not sweating it at all. 8)

The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body wood's natural tone shine through and will change over time.

All the basses posted look really nice. Either way & as posted earlier, the bass will yellow with age.

So, I'm randomly google image searching for pictures of honey blonde guitars to get an idea what mine would look like with cream pickup covers. And, would ya look at that.. there's my bass laying in my parents lawn! On a site I've never visited; it's almost famous!

There's my bass when it was so young. It's a 2006 Highway 1 60th anniversary edition.

Ok, so I'm digging up an old thread and starting a new account just to (hopefully) share a laugh. Also, I guess I can shed some light (no pun intended?) on the yellowing controversy. It doesn't seem anymore yellow?? I'll check back in, in 10 years, I guess. It does, however, have a crapload more chips and dings than it did in this picture. I love the finish but they're not even remotely as durable as poly finish. Anyone with an internet connection, common sense, eyeballs, fingers, etc. knows that, though.

I still have this bass. It's my #1. I love it. I've ditched an American Std, G&L and a handful of others that, on paper, should have been "better" instruments. This is my baby.

That's it. Thanks for reading.
