i recently got a Lollar, deep woody lows and articulated mids and highs, extremely sensitive to nuances in your playing style, It really sings, and picks up the resonances from the wood body. I have it on a MIM bas, it is nw my best sounding p bass.

The Fender pups will give you the thump and the classic Precision sound. The Seymour Duncans will give you a little different sound, for Christian Rock and funk, I'd say they're your best bet. IMO

Wow. This is HARD. BUT, I have three suggestions. Cheapest First.

1. SD Quarter Pounder. Yeah I know they are punky but you can dial them down and they are very quiet noise wise and extremely sensitive. Good for what you are seeking and I like them very much.

2. Bill Lawrence WILDE pickups. Very vintage sounding but thoroughly modern design built to his exact specs. A totally modern (epoxy sealed) design by the master of noiseless US bass pups. Nothing else out there is close for the money. BL has had some illness in the family I think but they are pressing on.

3. Custom pups from Jason Lollar or Curtis Novak or Lindy Fralin UNDERWOUND by a few percent can give you a very customized solo voicing that will CUT. More expensive...and well yeah, they are worth it. Not as quiet as the WILDE's I listed second, but will sound totally unique and give a P-bass a new voice. Have them underwound by say 3 to 5%. Nice bright tones from a P-Bass are unexpected but entirely possible and exceedingly pleasing.

There ya' go.

....with Seymore Duncan pickups and I have to say this bass had a
beautiful deep tone that made me want to spend money I did not have at
the time...Alas she ended up being someone else's honey,... but what a sound.

Don't discount the G&L MFD. The stock pickups in the SB-1 are Thunderous! Tons of bass and signal. I love mine!
