I am wondering how to get the right size strings for a 34" scale '62VReiussue PBass so that the correct amount of tension is placed on the neck. I guess longer strings would lower the tension and that smaller diameter strings would lower the tension? Any specific suggestions? How would you measure the tension? Thanks MTWJR6

Specs for your bass call for: Fender Super Bass 7250M strings
in gauges: (.045, .065, .080, .100). Stick to that set or to about any other set of similar or smaller gauge strings and you will be fine and your bass will require only very minor setup tweaks when changing strings.

In general flatwound strings have higher tension than roundwound. I know for sure of only one exception to that generalization, Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats JF344. They have the lowest tension of any string including roundwound that I've ever used.

I have had the same bass for three years now, and I use fender 9050M flats. Very high tension .50-.100 I think. Only needed a truss tweak once just after I first put them on. Been fine since.

I don't thenk it matters what you use. When you change the tension of a set, you will need an initial tweak for the bowing backwards or forwards you get after the change. Should settle in fine after, base on my experience.

Only prob I had was with a Japanese bass, that always needed tweaks because the neckwood wasn't dry enough. But I dried it out, and recently had it tweaked. We'll see how it goes.
