Hiya

I just got to think about an advert/bass I THINK Fender brought out a few years ago...I mean like early 2000's - it was a half-size precision from what I remember, was it Fender or Squier who brought it out? What was its name? I think it was the "mini" or something...I'm SURE I'm not thinking about the mini guitar...but I cant find it on this website anywhere!

Anyone know what its called?

Yep that is it. It was discontinued a few years ago. Looks like this:

Junior had a 28 & 3/5ths scale length and 20 frets. Other features: a standard P-bass pickup, alder body, maple "C" shaped neck, single volume control with no tone control, rosewood fretboard, lightweight sealed tuners, string through body setup. Came in Torino Red and Black. You could use 30" strings on them no problem. Fender described them in their sales literature as exactly 10% smaller than a full sized Precision.

By all accounts they sounded really good and were easy to play. The only thing I ever heard bad about them was that the fret edges needed filing.

The Fender Mustang Bass with a 30" scale remains in production. Also Squier has the 30" Bronco Bass. The Bronco was a Fender model back in the CBS days.

Fender's "lost" short scale bass is the MusicMaster which was a 70's model. It was something of a poor man's Mustang Bass. You can see several photos of a MusicMaster here: http://www.jimlawrence.net/BASSES/MusicMaster.html
