I got this in a pawn shop for $250. I can't seem to find a model that matches it exactly. There are no serial numbers that I can find. Can anyone tell me if they know the exact model and how much it is most likely worth?

I think this is a parts bass at best.

The pickup/control setup looks like a HOT ROD PRECISION so the body might be from a Fender Hot Rod P-bass, or could be a knockoff. Disassembly of the neck from the body and removal of the pickguard & electronics would tell more. The body and neck could also be Squier or worse.

All Fender instruments from day 1 have a serial. The absence of a serial is a dead giveaway of a parts bass at best and extreme caution is advised.

If the body came from a Fender Hot Rod then the serial was on the headstock of the original neck. I think this may turn out to be an aftermarket neck and a counterfeit decal. Remove the neck and see who made it. Will probably say the brand on the paddle. The '57 gold anodized pickguard and the unengraved neck plate are wrong too. Also the bridge is aftermarket.

Parts bass is my opinion and without looking at the body cavities, electronics, neck pocket and neck paddle, which all requires disassembly I can't say for sure whether any of it is really Fender or not.

If it plays well and sounds good then $250 would not be too much to pay for a parts bass. I would say that if it is a genuine Fender body and electronics that what you paid was worth it for the body alone.

IMO That headstock does not look like a Fender one.

Like Dave said, If it plays well and sounds good then $250 would not be too much to pay for a parts bass.

Nice find.

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the insight. I just saw it sitting there with that price and felt I couldn't pass it up. After all, it plays and sounds like a Precision. So I don't regret picking it up. Anyway, thanks a bunch. :]
