SEND it back.
You'll never get all that silica out of the case either.
I'd contact the dealer immediately.

I contacted them; it's boxed up and ready to go. I thought I was going to have to jump through hoops, but it was easier than I thought. I guess it will be another 2 weeks to get another as they don't have any in stock.

I believe that the SH has the vintage 1.75" neck on there. Also has a sparkle blue finish, Seymour Duncan Basslines and a BadAss bridge. And the mirrored pg too.
IMO if that the look that you want, get the Standard P-Bass in LPB/Maple, and add the other items on to it. The BadAss may be a little hard to find, but you won't be spending over $900 on everything. I seriously doubt that you could get a SH for under a grand, maybe used?
But if I were you, I would still get the American Deluxe. That's a bad $@! bass.

And what company are you dealing with about the first Am Deluxe? I have good things to say about Sweetwater.

I've been dealing with Sam Ash, and I've bought several things from them in the past with no problems.

I was able to score a Steve Harris in new condition (supposedly) on ebay today for well under a $1000. It was never sold, just setup and demo'd at an authorized Fender dealer. I think I did pretty well. We'll see when I get it.

One reason I was looking at the SH when I sent the Deluxe back is I was VERY surprised at how light the dlx was. I keep reading and hearing about how heavy the SH is and, believe it or not, I like the sound of that.

The Steve Harris is coming in tomorrow. I've been watching the DVD, "Live After Death" getting VERY excited about the new additon. The 2009 sig model is pretty much the same thing(looks wise,at least) he used in that show. There was a closeup of the bridge on Number of the Beast and, sure enough, it was a Badass II. I went on the internet I didn't realize Leo Quan put those out in the 70's! I coudn't tell which set of strings he was using and I don't even know if the SH-77's were available in '85.

The Steve Harris is definitely the one for me. The weight and feel of it is perfect. It sounds very nice.

It's in new condition in every way and I'm very pleased.

I know, no pictures = no bass, so I'll get some up ASAP. I'll also try to get another video up, hopefully not as dark as the last one.

I tried to take pictures, but I can't get a decent one. That chrome pickguard is making it tricky.

My video of it:

It's still dark! On my camera, it's fine, but when I upload it to youtube, the light goes away.
