Please bare with me... I will get to the point...
I bought a bass off E-Bay (I know... very risky) advertised as a Fender Mustang by Sunn. I was looking to try a cheap shortscale bass to see if my teenie weenie hands can cope better with a shorter scale. I even asked the question "what is the Scale length?". The reply was 23". So assuming the guy was not a player I opted to bid...and won. I paid £56.00 (about $112).
What actually arrived is a P-Bass. Pots were terrible, jack needed glue to keep the lead in etc etc. Well, after stripping it and replacing the pots and jack and setting it up... WOW!
I normally play an Ibanez SGR500. But the low down punch of this Sunn is amazing. I'm shocked just how much tonal variety is available from a P-Bass.
OK, told you I'd get to the question eventually. I know Sunn was purchaed by Fender in '85. I know Sunn make Amps. I didn't know they made Guitars and Bass Guitars.
This Sunn is quite old. Can I find out where it was made? When? How much it cost when it was new? I've been to the local shop and they don't have an American P-Bass but the Mex was the same quality and about the same sound... Is my Sunn and American Sunn 'Mustang' or is it a Fender P-Bass badged as a Sunn?
Any help would be gratefully acknowledged.
