Nice. You've got the punk rock bassist go-to right there.

BTW, how awesome are Fat Mike's Bass parts? Even though he plays that jinky Danelectro bass.

Definitely! And with the Tort guard, it turns all classy!

Fat Mike is underated. He is VERY quick, and manages to sing at the same time.

I think hes another P bass guy for recording, but yeah he uses them crazy DE basses live...apparently he wanted a really lightweight bass.

Cheers man!

I agree Fat Mike should get his own sig bass. He IS underrated and very talented.
He's been doing his thing w/ NOFX and for a long time. MineMine and the Gimme-Gimmes too!

As was posted earlier. Sid was a murder as well as drug addict. He contributed nothing to the bass playing community other then have a Fender P-bass (note I didn't say play) Punk Rock appeals to lets face a minority of players out there. Fender offers a decent selection of artist models of all the various styles of music. If someone wants a Sid Vicious bass get the Squire VM P-bass. If you want a Punk Rock bassist model who can actually play bass get try the Mike Dirnt model. Cool bass and cool bass player.
Sid was the greatest of all time       Dont be so serious!

What about Glen Matlock? How much of, "Never Mind the Bollocks", was him.
As that was the only complete Sex Pistols album, I had thought from cobwebs of the back of my mind that He and Steve Jones did all of the bass on that album, Sid was only on one song and I can't remember if it was just vocals, or he may have played bass one that one.
As I remember it said back then, most of the original versions of the Pistols' biggest songs have no Sid at all in them, the bass playing most heard my people is Steve Jones or Glen Matlock, Sid in incorrectly given credit for baselines he never had anything to do with anyway. That's the way I heard it, anyone else confirm or deny that?

I couldn't agree more with Guymandude1, Glen Matlock was the real force behind the Sex Pistols, he wrote most of Nevermind The Bullocks.
Anyway I don't think Sid Vicious should have a sig anything besides maybe heroin needles. If any bassist from the 70s punk era deserves a sig it would be Dee Dee Ramone and Paul Simonon. However the idea of punk sigs is foolish, that's not what punk is about, it's about being you and original. I would love Fender to issue a black and white P bass with a black pickguard. Oh wait it's called buy a standard in white and with a maple neck and change the pickguard to black one ply.

Glen's P-Bass has a natural finish over an ash body and a brown shell pickguard, as shown below (without the chrome bridge and pickup covers):

As far as I know, he ran this bass (along with a Maple Glow Rickenbacker 4001) through an old silverface Bassman 100 head/cab he bought for £99. Check out the "Anarchy in the UK 1976" video for more details:

Glen's current bass is a black Mexican Standard Precision with a 3-ply white pickguard and a rosewood board (see pic):

Personally, I'd opt for a Squier Vintage Modified or a Mexican FSR Standard with a tinted maple neck (see photo below - note: this one has a rosewood neck and was pretty close to Sid's battered original) and a silverface Bassman 135 head with a pair of matching cabs to achieve that punky bass sound.

Here's a photo of Glen's Bassman 100:

.... and another picture of the Bassman 135 I was looking for:

The Bassman 135 gives me all those punky Sex Pistols bass sounds with the added versatility of a midrange control on the Bass channel and 135W RMS of power for more punch under the hood.
