Yes. When you feel it speak to you and say, "I AM THE ONE" you won't care where it was made or how much it costs. You have to play a lot of them to find one like that.

As others pointed out play a bunch of them. Two instruments of the exact same make and model that appear identical often sound and play quite differently. I think a large part of this is the quality of the woods used. MIM bass blanks vary in construction with at least 4 and as many as 7 pieces of wood in the body blank. I think that accounts for much of the difference from instrument to instrument of the same model. A 4 piece blank will sound better than a 7 piece. Want a 3 piece body blank? Buy MIA.

Some of the Squier instruments are made of veneered wood. This would be the see-through and natural finishes. I don't think veneer sounds as good as solid wood.

As long as you have something to play, Save your money and buy the real deal. And i mean an Ametican Standard P-Bass. I have one and it kicks $@!.
