Hey Kids,

I have a 97' American Precision 4 string with standard top load or STB bridge It's chrome w/ black screws, black springs and allen screw saddle adjusters. I guess it's standard?

Anywhoo, I want to upgrade to a Badass and wanted to know whether BA II bridges have STB holes, or do I need to get a BA III?

Thanks

My suggestion would be to contact Badass and find out which bridge would be best for your bass.

I think its BA II that are the direct replacement for fender basses (with STB and 5 screw attachment).

Just google them :)

BadAss III if you have a string through body, plus III has a nicer look to it, nice and fat. II is also nice just not as hefty looking as the III.

I tried but I think no one's at home. Their website was last updated in 2005. I'm thinking a BA III will be the one but would like to KNOW before I buy one online.

Thanks again!

The BAIII is the direct drop in for your P bass. The BAIII is also a direct drop in for the old Single Coil P basses from 51-mid 57, and first generation Telecaster basses) as a replacement for the old two saddle bridge. It will also drop in on a 51' RI P bass, and Custom Shop 51 and 55 P's.

The BAII is the replacement for the old top load 5 screw bridges. Found on basses from late 57-early 90's I believe American P's, also Present day HWY1, MIM, CIJ, AVS, and CS Time Machine with the exception of single coil RI's from any of those lines.

Basically, if your P or J bass is string through body, then go with the BAIII, otherwise the BAII.
Hope that helps.

Did you ever decide? If so which one?

Well, after a thorough setup session and some new strings, I decided my old Precision sounded pretty good with the stock bridge.

When I get another wild hair, it'll be the BAIII.

Cheers!

Ha, right answer. Stock bridges work just fine. On any model.

I just sold my 3 Precision basses (MIM split coils). I just bought a 51RI P, and am using the extra cash to cover my share of my bands studio time. I've been wanting to switch to a SCPB for a long time. At first i was weary of the old 2 saddle bridge (which I have experience with, from my old 72' Fender Musicmaster). However, I've found the Spartan qualities of the old 2 saddle, very refreshing...for now atleast.
