This is my 1996 Fender Cowpoke. It's a great bass and all, but it's not my thing.

I really want a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. If i traded this bass in for one, how much would be left over that i'd have to pay?

A good way to find out is to look on ebay under closed auctions for whether anyone's sold your bass recently and at what price. That can give you a ball park estimate of what it would fetch right now.

your best bet is to sell it outright, on ebay, craiglist, etc. You'll make more money on it that way. Rule of thumb; usually a store will only give you 30-50% of the actual value of the item you are trading in.

Like Mastermold said, do some research on it to see what they're going for. I think I saw one of those on ebay a few days back. At that time it was at about $350 but it could be higher if the auction is still going on.

I've heard that Fender made both a MIM and a MIJ version. This one is MIM. The only thing wrong with it is that the pickguard is warped and has a crack in it. It still plays good and all, it's just the electronics i hate.

Just to let you know, man, the name Cowpoke was given to it because of the unusual western-shaped pickguard. The technical name of these basses it the Fender Precision Bass Deluxe, frmo the 1994-1997ish era.
