Hey guys. I have the opportunity to pick up a p-bass for $150. My question is...according to the serial number, it is made in Korea. It says "Fender" on the headstock in the normal location, but says "squier series" on the little round part at the top of the headstock. Also, right under where is says "precision bass" it says "active"...can anyone tell me anything about this?

It sounds like you're looking at a squier bass. Squiers are the budget line of fenders and are made in korea and indonesia. "Active" means it has a built in preamp that allows you to adjust the EQ of the tone on the bass itself. 150 is probably a pretty good price.

According to some pages that I have found it can be considered a Fender Bass without record of factory date. In some another sites they say
CN = Korean Made Fender/Squier (no year range specified).

Seems to be a weird hole on Fender history....

Maybe someone else can help.

Cheers!
