No shame in owning a MIM. I have a Highway One Jazz and love it but I also have a Squire Vintage Modified P-bass and I absolutely love it. Who care's what people say dude if it feels good and it sounds good it doesn't matter what people think and the important thing is, its not the instrument its the player.

IMO There is absolutely nothing wrong with not having top of the line gear. My previous primary bass was a MIA Fender P-Bass. I bought a Squier Vintage Modified P-Bass used for $180, and I fell in love with it. I am really impressed by this bass. I love its light weight and the neck feels nice in my hands. I have changed the pick-ups to Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, replaced the pots, jack, and wiring, and put a new Gotoh 201 bridge on there. I spent less than $75 on that stuff. I also have a Highway One P-Bass, love that one too, but the VM is my main bass. I have since sold that MIA bass.

In fact, I want another Squier VM P-Bass.

Your completely right dude. The VM P-bass is an awesome bass, especially for how much you pay for it.
