I can't choose. I dont like the bat on the pete wentz, and worry it will be uncool to play after 2 years, but it has that maple fingerboard on the maple neck and hot pickup, but i dont like rosewood fingerboards, and im not sure if i like white basses :S I like both but dont want to regret getting one and not the other...

Can you not run to a MIM Precision? Much nicer choice these days, including maple 'boards.

Go the vintage modified, the Pete Wentz model isn't as versatile. The Vintage modified has a tone nob which can change the tone drastically, the Pete Wentz doesn't.

thanks guys. hmmm, im not too bothered about the lack of tone nob, bt i wish the vintag modified had a maple neck. im not getting a MIM coz i'm going uni and i want a cheaper bass i can carry around, as i already have a fretless precision. I considered the VM jazz but i much prefer precisions. has anyone tried the pete wentz, does the pick up sound rele powerful?

Think it is quite similar to the pickup in the vintage modified just without the tone knob.

vintage modified would have a better wood IMO
Pete's bass is made out of Agathis if I'm not mistaken
