Hi all,

Was buzzing some bass web sites and I found a picture of a Fender Japan
Precision with an F hole, Tele thinline style, a Jazz bass pickup at the bridge and a Fender humbucker at the neck. This bass also had a small style 51 P-bass headstock and three controls on a 51 style chrome control plate. Clear scratchplate and the colour was called black-blueburst
I don't believe this was a customer mod, the description led me to believe it was a production model. Model nr. TNB-110SPL

This is the freakyist P-bass I have ever seen and I want one !!!!!
Any ideas on rarity, availablity or price.....?????

thanks in advance
Dr. Bass

Odds are its a bass strictly available to Japan at the moment and should be available to America in the future it was the same with the Jaguar Basses when they came out with them only in Japan and then came to American slowly :)

erf.... not necessarily. There are a LOT of MIJ non-export models that will probably never be exported to the states (save for being sold after the fact). In fact, most MIJ models aren't exported. Some models were originally non-export and were after the fact, but most haven't and probably never will.

I've never seen this f-hole bass model before, and it's not currently made in the japanese factory. Do you have a pic?

These were only made for a short while discontinued about 2005 and were only sold in Japan. They do appear infrequently on eBay. People who are lucky enough to have gotten one love them from what I've heard.

They look like this:

List price was 87,800 Yen which equals about $928 in USD today.
Routine dealer price was 83,620 Yen which equals about $884 in USD today. Since they are very rare in the west and were not exported officially at all they are probably worth at least the original dealer value in today's currency. I'd buy one if I ran across it and I had the money to spare.
