Welcome to the Forum.

That serial number comes up with 3 options:

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1994 - 1995

or:

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 2005 - 2006

or:

Your guitar was made at the
Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA
in the Year(s): 1977 - 1978

Without seeing the neck or any other writing it may have on it I'm guessing it's probably the 2005-2006 which would be a Crafted In Japan.

If the neck is selling for $400.00 it is likely From 1977 - 1978. Your best bet is to look at 1978 Basses and compare the headstocks.

LOL, if the person doesn't know how valuable it is you don't want to tip him off.

That serial number is for a 1978 Fender neck.

Just make sure that there is a return policy that will refund your money if the neck proves to have a bad truss rod after you install it. There is no way to tell what shape the rod is in before you get the neck.

That's the main reeson to wary of low priced necks sold "as is"
