On my brand new fender hwy 1.
once light pressure begins , it is only smooth for precisely 3/4 full turn before the wood echos with creaks and the turn is sticky and jumps , but I'm not applying killer force, do you know why?Is this normal ?I tried loosening it and re tightening it but at that point it always creaks. Do these these necks have the same number of turns once resistence is felt ?

Are you adjusting the trussrod without any string tension on the neck? As much as a pain in the neck it is (no pun intended) that's really the safest way to do it.
I use a teflon lubricant on the threads of my truss rods...I think it's called "Break Free CLP". It works well and unlike a petroleum derived lube, won't seep into the wood.

Be sure you are "helping" when adjusting. See the GARY WILLIS setup illustration on neck adjustment technique linked from my resource page, start at the link in my signature, then click on DO-IT-YOURSELF SETUP & MAINTENANCE. Then click on the Gary Willis guide. This technique works great.

Also, I've had some very bad luck with Highway One necks. Won't try another one myself. Even doing it the right way, it didn't work. Good luck.

REMOVE NECK AND MAKE SURE ROD IS LOOSE WITH WRENCH ATTACHED BY TURNING BACK AND FORTH THEN REMOVE THE ROD AND SPRAY WD-40 IN CAVITY AND ON ROD AND VASELINE THE THREADS AND REINSTALL ROD TURNING TO SEAT PROPERLY REATTACH NECK ETC.

PLEASE don't spray WD40 into the cavity...that will most definitely soak into the wood and at the very least, discolor it and possibly affect the finish on the neck and/or attack the glues holding the fretboard to the neck...a little vaseline or white lithium grease on the threads of the truss rod is fine though...

NO to the WD 40 suggestion, and I would not be turning it 3/4's of a full turn at a time.
