Hi! I want my new classic series '50s Precision Bass to look like a real vintage one. So, any recomendations or specifications of where to drill to get the exact spot of the original vintage bridge cover?

Thanx!

Welcome to the Forum.

Best advice I can give you is to look at pictures and study where they were mounted.

Yep, that's what I did. I've put a bridge cover on my '51RI, a '01 Standard P and my '50s Classic P.
I eye-ball it SEVERAL times before I mark any holes.
It's kind of nerve-racking ...... but all three came out nicely
IMHO.

Here's what I do. Lay the bass on a flat surface and place the cover over the bridge. Line it up as straight as you can, move it around a wee bit to make sure it's not touching the bridge. When you're satisfied that it's aligned properly, take a marker and make a dot on the bass through the screw holes to mark where you need to drill. Remove the cover and then drill about a 1/4 inch deep hole and that's it. Just need a screwdriver to finish the rest. Good luck.

I suggest also putting a piece of masking tape directly on the bass in the approximate locations where you will be marking and drilling the holes. It prevents the poly paint from coming off in big chips around the holes and also makes it easier to see the pencil marks. Carefully remove the tape immediately after drilling. I like the blue 3M brand for this as it comes off cleaner and leaves less residue than the typical tan.
